Green Wave News · Region Track Meet Day 1 Results


Congratulations to the following boys of the Track team on their performance at Day 1 of the Region Meet: Jamel Harried, Jalen Young, and  Jamal Crawford all qualified for the finals today in the 110 meter hurdles. Jcorey Sutton ran a personal best in the hurdles. Carter Brumfield, Luke Segee, Will Fortner, and Steven Chappell finished 3rd on the 4×800 relay team and qualified for the upper state championship. Tyus Young finished 2nd in the high jump, 4th in the long jump, and 5th in the triple jump qualifying in all 3 events for the upper state championship. Jaydan Gordon qualified in the triple jump for the upper state championship. Also running a PR in their 3200 meter event was Josue Avendano.

For the Pole Vault, Taylor Boyles won the Region championship. Taylor Fox finished 2nd and had a PR of 14 feet 6 inches. Will Liddle finished 6th. All three pole vaulters qualified for the upper state championship. Will Brooks also had a PR in Pole Vault. Currently the boys are in 2nd place and will have Day 2 finals tonight!

Congratulations to the following girls of the Track team on their performance at Day 1 of the Region Meet: Kieayla Williams and Meya McKinney qualified for the finals of the 100 meters. In the hurdles, Averi Jones and Jayden Burgess had a PR. Sarahi Arellano, Camryn Cascio, Caroline Irvin, and Anna Ogawa finished 6th in the 4×800 relay team and qualified for the upper state championship. In the Pole Vault Leanne Berthrong finished 4th and qualified for the upper state championship. Tarrah Semones finished 6th in the discus and qualified for the upper state championship. Jayden Burgess had a personal best in the triple jump. For the long jump, Meya McKinney won the Region Championship and qualified for the upper state championship. The girls are in 6th place after Day and will have finals of Day 2 tonight.
