EHS Finishes 2nd in Three Way Meet at Wren

On Thursday, March 12th, both EHS girls and boys varsity track teams finished second to Wren in a three way meet against Wren and Crescent. The EHS girls scored 57 points to Wren’s 90 and Crescent’s 31. The boys scored 73 points to 96 for Wren and Crescent 3.
In the sprints Dylan Lyda was the big winner for the EHS boys as he won the 100m and took second in the 200m. For the EHS girls Kieayla Williams won the 200 and was 2nd in the 100 meters. Meya McKinney was 3rd in both the girls 100 and 200 meters. The final scoring in the sprints came from EHS senior Luke Segee as he finished 2nd in the 400 meters.
In the 800 meters it was Emma Bright with a second place finish in the girls and Josue Avendano with a third place finish for the boys.
It was Emma and Josue scoring again for EHS in the distance races.
Bright won the girls 1600 meters and was 4th in the 3200 meters. Avendano finished 2nd in the boys 1600 m and 3200 meters. For the Green Wave girls 8th grader Caroline Irvin finished 2nd in the girls 1600 m, while Drayton Robbins finished 3rd and 7th grader Akira Ogawa finished 4th in the boys 1600 meters.
The EHS hurdlers made their presence known with Jayden Burgess winning the 400 meter hurdles and placing 4th in the 100 meter hurdles. In the boys hurdles it was all Harried and Garrison. Jamel Harried won the 100 m and was 2nd in the 400 m hurdles. Walker Garrison won the 400 m and was 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles.
EHS relay teams ran well in the meet with both girls and boys winning the 4X100 meter races. For the girls, the team of Jayden Burgess, Adrianna Field, Kiela Williams and Meya McKinney won for the EHS girls while the team of Jamel Harried, Jayden Gordon, Dylan Lyda and Luke Segee won the boys race.
Sarahi Arellano, Caroline Irvin, Alivia Lamboy and Hermela Irvin placed 2nd in the girls 4X800 m relay while Drayton Robbins, Braydon Contreyas, Akira Ogawa, and Crews Waldrop finished 2nd for the boys.
The EHS boys made a big impression in the jumps. In the horizontal jumps Jaydan Gordon won the Long Jump and was 2nd in the Triple Jump. Timothy Sutton took 3rd in both jumps while Hayden Avant was 4th in the LJ. For the EHS girls Meya McKinney was 2nd in the Long Jump.
In the vertical jumps EHS continued their dominance in the pole vault. For the girls, first year vaulter Caroline Barrington was first with Leanne Berthrong finishing 2nd and Riley Rutland 4th. Taylor Fox won the boys vault with Devin Davis finishing 3rd and Wil Liddle 4th. Placing in every event he entered Jaydan Gordan was 2nd in the boys high jump.
In the throws it was Malena Lizardo for the Wave. She took 2nd in the discus and 3rd in the shot. For the boys throws, Isaiah Grant was 2nd in the discus and Tyrese Smith was 4th in the shot.
Easley High School track had a good showing in their first meet of the 2020 season.
